March is for more than just St. Patrick’s Day – it’s our coined Pit Bull Celebration Month! Pit Bulls make the best companions and we want the world to love them just as much as we do at Providence Animal Center. We are dedicating the month of March to celebrating how great these dogs are and to finding them amazing, loving, forever homes.
For the month of March, we are offering $0-25 adoption fees for our lovely Pit Bulls and Pit Bull blends 6+ months of age like Meredith, pictured.
Many of our “Pitties” find their way to our Center from various situations, many of overcrowded shelters, including ACCT Philadelphia, where they would be at risk of euthanasia if not for our help. Recently, we’ve enacted Operation ACCT Now, where we’ve set a goal to save 50 dogs from ACCT Philly by the end of March, most of them Pit Bulls.
Throughout March, we offer 50% off at our Tuesday offsite vaccine and microchipping clinics to Pit Bull/mix owners.
On March 11th, we are having our 3rd annual St. Pitty’s Day Pub Crawl in Media! It will take place from 12-5:30pm at different bars along State Street. The bars will be offering select drink specials, and we’ll have a raffle basket at each, along with adoptables. To take part in the Pub Crawl, you must purchase an official St. Pitty’s Day Pub Crawl 2017 t-shirt, which you can do at our Center starting on March 4, or at the event.
March 12th is St. Pitty’s Family Day from 12-5pm at our Adoption Center! We will have a BBQ, Pitty Kissing Booth, St. Pitty’s Day 2017 t-shirts and great adoptable pets looking for forever homes.
Did you know that Pit Bulls were referred to as the “nanny dog” back in the 19th and 20th Centuries? Pit Bulls were used to babysit children back in the day, hence their nickname! According to the American Temperament Test Society, Pit Bulls had one of the highest-scoring temperaments with the most tolerant personalities. All dogs have the potential to be great pets; it’s all about how you train them, and being a responsible pet owner!
All of March’s activities will support Fix-a-Bull, our subsidized spay and neuter programed targeted at Pit Bulls in the most in-need areas in the community. Can’t take part in the fun or adopt a Pitty? Give back to help us help as many as possible.
