We are happy to announce the forthcoming full-length animated feature film for all ages, “Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero,” which will be premiering in theatres country-wide on Friday, April 13th. Best of all, our Center was selected to receive 10% of Pennsylvania’s opening night proceeds!
Have you ever heard of four-legged war hero Sgt. Stubby? He’s proof that dogs can do amazing things. Stubby was found as a stray by soldiers and made his way as the official mascot of the 102nd Infantry Regiment, assigned to the 26th Division. He served in 17 battles and was hurt by chemical warfare. Miraculously, when he recovered, he had the instinct to detect incoming attacks in order to help his fellow soldiers. He also was able to lead medics to injured soldiers on the battlefield.
Stubby was eventually promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was the first dog to be promoted in combat. That’s pretty outstanding, if you ask us!
Be sure to save the date of April 13th and head to your local theatre. Even if you don’t live in our Keystone State, the movie’s production company, Fun Academy Studios, has generously partnered with animal rescues across the country to receive a give-back on opening night.
